Heavy gimp for hand-sewn buttonholes on mens' and womens' tailored garments. It consists of stiff core (which is either black or white), tightly wrapped in fine viscose filament of the appropriate color. The buttonhole stitch is worked over the gimp using a silk twist. The gimp provides reinforcement, and really makes the buttonhole stand out on the surface of the cloth. Check out this tutorial by Jeffrey Diduch.
Made in Spain
Note to repeat buyers: shade 701 is lighter in color than it use to be. If you need a darker grey, 36 may be a good choice.
Note on shipping: if you are buying only a small quantity of gimp, I may be able to send it in a letter envelope. The shopping cart will not display that option, so you will be overcharged for shipping. I will always refund excess shipping fees, but if you are unsure whether the quoted amount is accurate, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I don't know of anybody else who sells this by the yard. When I need an odd color, I don't want to buy 100m of it knowing I will only use about 2m before I retire. Very glad to have the option to buy less.
I will never use any other gimp. Guetermann is the best.

I used to make 4-cords as my gimps when I made buttonholes. it worked out alright. But with Agreman Gimp, the buttonholes come out leaner, which is what I prefer. because it's thin but very study. the end results are much more satisfying than 4-cords. And it saves time too!
